A Highland Photo Trip: Part 8 Sunset at Altandhu

As the horizon brightened to the west we stopped photographing at our location near Inverpolly and headed in the car the 6 miles to a view point above the small fishing village of Altandhu.

The clouds on the horizon had broken up and the sunlight was streaming through producing a spectacular display.  I had fixed the X-T2 to the Manfrotto 190 tripod while I used the X-Pro2 with either the 100-400mm, or the XF50-140mm with the 1.4x converter, to get some closer images of the sunset and the cloud formations.

The light was fading fast and we had to work quickly.  Being exposed on a hill on the coast also subjected us to high winds, which were also pretty cold, which meant we had to watch for camera shake in the long exposure images.

As the last of the light faded away we headed back to the car and got back on the road for the long trip back to Edinburgh.  The two days had been a great adventure photographing a part of the world I hadn't been to for nearly 30 years.

I look forward to returning to the far north west coast of Scotland in the very near future.
