REVIEW: Fujifilm EC-XT Extended Eye Cup for X-T1

Around six weeks ago I lost the original rubber eye piece for the X-T1 while out walking - the camera was over my shoulder and the eye piece had dislodged and dropped off after rubbing against my coat or trousers - and had to look around for a replacement.

At almost the same time Fuji announced that they were bringing out the Extended Eye Cup for the X-T1 and according to the advert it -
  • Effectively shields light, making it easier to see the viewfinder
  • The soft material also improves the fit for users shooting with the naked eye or with glasses
This seemed like a good idea; so I ordered one and last week it arrived.

I have to say that as someone who wears glasses the EC-XT is great and seeing the EVF clearly, even in bright sunlight, is now so much better.

I bought mine because I had lost the original but I would recommend any X-T1 user to have a look at this eye piece because it is a big improvement on the original item and for around £10 it isn't going to break the bank.

  1. Very nice indeed.

I’d like to buy it too but this is nowhere to be found “ in stock” in the Netherlands.

Even the link that you gave simply says “ awaiting stock, taking orders” with no info on when it will be ready to be ordered.

Ordering outside the EU is not an option because of shipping fees and equal or larger than the cost of the item and the possibility that one will be charged VAT , customs and “ handling through customs” (just paid 20€ for two items costing 40€, 13€ of which was “ handling through customs”!).

    This has to take

  2. Thank you for the feedback. It seems there are a lot of photographers waiting for stock to arrive. I trust Fuji will solve this supply problem soon because you are not alone in waiting to by a EC-XT eye cup. I feel very lucky to have manage to get one for my camera.
